Hey,
Do you fancy joining me for some writing this Sunday?
Although the 1st of September can feel like the start of Autumn (it definitely feels like the start of something) I’m starting to lean towards the astronomical calendar for my journaling and this Sunday 22nd September marks the Autumn Equinox in the UK.
The seasons ground me. I know that sounds a bit cliche but where month by month I can choose to get organised, make to-do lists and plans in my journal, and I have a (pretty much) daily journaling practise which is led by what I feel I need or am inspired to write, my seasonal journaling feels bigger than that.
It’s taking the time to pause and reflect and consider our place in the order of things. Consider what is really happening in nature, which of course is not a separate thing trundling along in the background of our lives (feels that way sometimes) but an integral part of who we are and how we live. What can we learn from the changes around us, where the energy lies, where the growth is happening, where we can gather support and guidance? It fascinates and comforts me.
Writing is a way of making sense of it. The best way I know of slowing down to notice. The main way that I am able to think deeply and get curious. Unravel the busy days of my life and allow myself to dream a little.
I could very easily miss this opportunity. There was a brilliant super moon in the UK this past week (did you see it) and I’d hoped to do a little tarot reading/journaling on that night. Instead I ended up looking for a lost PE kit and cleaning up dishes (you know how it is?) But when I have something booked in with you I know that won’t happen.
So I am dedicating the time and space. Protecting it as best I can for you, and me. Which isn’t to say that you can’t watch this back at any time (I’ll record it) or journal about the change of season at any point (half an hour on your lunch-break will do the trick, getting outside to do it would be joyous). But if you’d prefer to do it with others and if the planets align on the night (fingers crossed, I know it’s not as simple as intention) then I’ll be there.
I’ll be lighting a candle. Grabbing my comfiest blanket (even if it’s not cold, just because it’s gonna set the scene and blankets are excellent things). There will be a spot of poetry to set the scene, journal prompts to give some structure and circle magic at the ready for an hour of uninterrupted (again, ever hopeful) soul nourishing work before the Winter season of rest and restoration. Jammies very much encouraged.
Anyone fancy joining me?

Couple of notes:
These live journaling sessions are normally a paid subscriber benefit but if you’re currently a free subscriber and fancy coming along (plus you’ll be able to dig into all past paid subscriber posts so get a feel for what lies behind the scenes) then I’ve set up a link for a free 7 day trial below. If you think that might be for you then please do take it, it’s all yours. Grab any notebook you have and see what happens. You should then be able to view the joining details for the night at the bottom.
I’ve made it 8-9pm (UK time). I felt like that was a compact enough sounding slot, late enough for the parents amongst us to have half a chance of getting some bedtimes at least started, not so late that we’re counting down the sleep we’re not getting before work or school the next day, ha.
I’ve never done a ‘free trial button’ thing before so if this doesn’t work for any reason please just email/DM me and I’ll try and figure it out, argh.
