Saw this courtesy of your link in White Ink chat. Love having my tea and brain stirred so entertains meaningfully before breakfast. So thanks for that.
Lived my childhood speaking without being spoken too. Then didn’t. For years.
Thank you Matthew. Oh interesting. Did something happen to make that change do you think? I was the opposite and was a painfully shy kid so have spent my whole life actively pushing against that. Pants are back on your head now??
Nelly, this came at just the right time for me. For a multitude of reasons (including the fact that my son Dom used to wear pants on his head and had a tattoo ‘life is just a silly hat.’ The story will feature in my final post remembering him later this week. Going to restack ♥️
Aah I wish I could see the world as positively as you do! I think I was encouraged to fear other people as a child and I think I’ve almost accidentally made my kids do the same. In fact
I’ve just woken up from a dream where I was having an argument because some random tried to crash a party in our house which was a sleepover (random - that not something that would ever happen !) and my instinct was to assume he was a bad’un and others were seeing the good in him. Interesting. Thanks for making us think, Hels!
Ooh that’s just given me goosebumps that you had that dream then woke up and read this. I have this weird thing (I am only writing this here because you know me well enough) that when I write something it is meant for one person. And I don’t know who they are, but I write to that one person. If there are more, amazing. But one is my aim. My purpose. Thank you. I don’t think you’ll be alone with that stranger fear. It’s a safety mechanism isn’t it. And lots of times, a useful one. Loved hearing your ‘voice’ this Sunday morning. You always make me think too 🥰
So lovely to wake up to this reflection this morning! And so true.
Thanks for taking the time to comment Kate x

And now loving the wrong pants idea.

I read this a few days ago and have come back to it to say how uplifting it is and true.
